Passover 5785

Soon, the Passover holiday, which begins on the 14th day of the month of Nissan (Evening of Passover on the 14th of Nissan) and lasts seven days in Eretz Israel. In the diaspora, for example in Poland, it lasts eight days. In the current year, i.e. 5785 of the Jewish calendar, which falls in the years 2024/2025 of the Gregorian calendar, the beginning of the holiday will fall on April 12 (Evening of Passover on April 12). In our Community, this holiday is celebrated very solemnly. Seder dinners are held in the communal Kupa synagogue, while prayers are also held in the communal Remuh synagogue. It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Tadeusz Jakubowicz, long-time chairman of the Jewish Religious Community of Krakow. We mourn the loss of this very exceptional figure, who will forever remain in the hearts of theJewish community in Poland and around the world. A survivor of the Holocaust, completely devoted to the Jewish community in Krakow.A friend of Israel, a Great Man! In private, a lover of nature, motoring, a fan of Cracovia soccer club. He was famous for his sharp tongue and blunt retorts. The funeral will take place at noon (12:00) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the Jewish Cemetery in Krakow at 55 Miodowa Street.

A courtesy translation, by D Cohen, of the statement of the Jewish Religious Community of Kraków of 21 May 2021 at https://gwzkrakow.pl/2021/05/21/oswiadczenie/ could be: The Jewish Religious Community in Kraków informs that yesterday, i.e., 20 May 2021, the District Court of Kraków, in the matter numbered I C 1989/19 has decided favourably for the Community, ordering the Chabad Lubawicz Foundation to remove itself from and give back the Izaak Synagogue, illegally occupied by the Foundation. The sentence, as its grounds, as given orally, completely contradict the position presented until now by the Foundation, which is considered by the court as not true. Announcement by the Council

The Jewish Religious Community in Kraków, together with the public in general, does not approve that the place, where people of various nationalities and religions were murdered, be used for self-promotion and political goals. We consider the actions of Mateusz Jaśko, which provoke tension between the inhabitants of Kraków, shocking and irresponsible. In the Plaszow concentration camp many of our brethren, many of our neighbours, many of those who lived in Krakow, died. They belonged to various nationalities. They were brutally murdered. Those who survived were sent to extermination camps, where they met with an equally tragic fate.
