Announcement of recruitment for the position of Director of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODŻ)

The Board of the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODŻ) is seeking a Director for the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland. The position is open to candidates from all over Poland, with particular emphasis on those based in Krakow or Warsaw, as these are the locations where the work will most often be performed. The Foundation’s office is located in Krakow, so a candidate based elsewhere will be required to travel to Krakow regularly. Travel to other parts of the country will also be necessary . Director / Director of FODŻ:

The Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland was established in 2001 to preserve and commemorate Jewish cultural heritage in Poland. The Foundation is seeking a Director with leadership skills, the ability to build partnerships with other Jewish organizations in Poland and abroad, and an understanding of the traditions and heritage of Polish Jews.

Management experience:

The candidate sought should have experience in the operational and financial management of a foundation. Experience in managing non-profit organizations is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supervising fundraising activities, researching projects, and submitting grant applications
  • Real estate management and implementation of educational programs
  • Systematic supervision of the restitution process
  • Developing strategies and policies established by the Management Board
  • Supervision over the implementation of annual or monthly financial reports
  • Supervision of the Foundation’s finances
  • Personnel management
  • Negotiating contracts with contractors subject to approval by the Management Board
  • Supervising the Foundation’s ongoing activities and maintaining close contact with members of the Management Board
  • Overseeing real estate regulations and the maintenance and upkeep schedule for the Foundation’s assets
  • Conducting proceedings regarding the valuation of real estate belonging to the Foundation
  • Building good relationships with staff and members of the wider community
  • Active participation in Management Board meetings.

Skill requirements:

  • Professional experience in team management
  • A visionary approach to thinking and managing an organization
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial position
  • Higher education or extensive professional experience
  • Experience in managing an organization, supported by achievements
  • Experience in finance, human resources, and project management
  • Marketing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in speech and writing
  • Fluent knowledge of Polish and English (min. C1)
